Sometimes we learn to look with our hands,
feel with our mouths,
experience with our teeth,
or just familiarize in expression with our heart.
How we express ourselves has everything to do with the things we want to learn,
or how we learn to use that we let speak our heart by our tools,
or in words we speak by the images we create.

Richard Wood – Inspirational Mouth Artist
Richard Wood is a mouth artist; Richard broken his neck back in 1991, a budding artist then, Richard is nothing short of a sensational artist now. Richard’s neck break left him completely paralysed; much as the late (and great) Christopher Reeve.

Richard Wood grew up in the seaside town of Ilfracombe in Devon. He always had a keen interest in painting and drawing, taking art as one of his 'A' Level subjects in school. At the age of 21 Richard decided to focus on developing his skills and enrolled on a foundation course in Art & Design.
Shortly after beginning the course a diving accident at the beach resulted in Richard suffering a spinal injury, causing his complete paralysis from the shoulders down. However, whilst in Odstock Spinal Unit in Salisbury Richard read about the Mouth & Foot Painting Artists and decided to try painting by holding a brush in his mouth.

Before long he mastered the technique and was able to achieve the same amount of detail and quality in his work as before his accident. On leaving hospital Richard completed his foundation course and was accepted as a Student Member of the MFPA.
Richard lives independently, supported by friends and family, and is inspired by the Devon countryside. He enjoys painting from life and has recently returned from France where he captured the Provencal landscape in his work.

Mouth Painting, Be Inspired by Mouth Artist Richard Wood – Nothing is Impossible!
I happen to be very lucky to know one of the most inspiring people in the world. No, this is not an idiot from TOWIE, or Geordie Shore. Nor is this some wannabe from the X Factor (Shite Factor) or a sob story from Britain’s Got Talent (Britain’s ‘not’ got Talent). Our world is sadly dominated by shallow people who do nothing to enhance society. In fact the majority of ‘celebrities’ that get talked about in the media are simply seeking their five minutes of fame and line their pockets to fuel their personal greed.
Personally I have no feeling for anyone famous that goes off the rails; when you have everything and throw it all away, its tough, I really couldn’t care. For every shallow celebrity there are countless hero’s. The artist featured in this blog is a real hero, a real inspiration, and someone that we can all learn from.
